Online Course design rebric

I choose to look at the K-12 rubric. As a teacher focused on the younger ages (K-5) I was a good reminder that when the children I teach leave my classroom they will be building on them knowledge I gave them. I need to set them up to succeed, and a helpful tool for this is these standards.
For me the most shocking was a few in the course overview and instruction and assessment and measurement standards. When I think about teaching in a kindergarten or first grade class I may have a hard time working with these standards as they are written. Just like any information or instruction it is important to differentiate to meet the children’s needs.
At first the complex manor the standards were written were causing me to have to really think if they apply to working in early elementary, but they do. I do almost everyone daily, but in a way a 5-6 year old can understand.
I think that standard that focused on different types of assessment and making sure there are a variety of high quality assessment forms is something I hadn’t thought of. In typical classrooms there’s spelling tests, geography tests, math tests, but how can we obtain the same results but do it in a different way that isn’t just a quiet, individual paper and pencil test. Those do hold value, but after reading these standards I am curious what other options are out there.
Teaching is already challenging and especially when it comes to the technology that is available. I can see running into problems meeting these standards when it comes to schools that may not be as affluent than others. The course technology 6.4 is one I especially see this being true. Keeping up with current technology can be incredibly expensive, and often schools don’t have the funds to provide the most up to date technology for students.
I think the point of reviewing these standards because before this assignment I was not aware these standards exist. When we look at creating our collaborative and individual projects we need to take into consideration these standards.
